    The Geosciences team within RSK Group is one of the UK’s largest geotechnical and contaminated land consultancies with ambitious plans for growth in the future. The Geosciences team provides consultancy and design services to a range of external clients including engineers, developers, house-builders, infrastructure, power supply, oil companies and local authorities. Our current workload includes major infrastructure projects, housing and distribution warehousing developments and landfills.     RSK is currently recruiting for a Project Manager to join the Geosciences team. This will be a national role to support of the UK offices for the business unit.

     

    Project Manager – National Role

     

    The successful candidate will be a supporting member of the leadership team, specifically leading professional staff with regard to all aspects of project management capability. In particular, the area of project planning, delivery and monitoring of design work. Also supporting delivery and change management projects.

     

    To work with the other Heads of the UK businesses, specifically to provide project management leadership, guidance and support to Regional Directors and to all staff completing design and contract work, with both public and private clients in all work sectors.

     

    Providing advice to the RSK business unit leadership team with regard to the delivery of both internal and external projects. Managing the delivery of these updates and reporting back to the Board.

     


    More specifically you will be:

    • Working with regional project teams to provide project management services on projects and frameworks. Guide: Approximately 50% of time (fee earning).
    • Research and cascade the latest project management techniques, guidance, best practice and implement methods of working to improve business’ efficiency and accuracy. Providing training, coaching and mentoring to others in the organisation. Guide: Approximately 25% of time.
    • Assisting the business unit to implement internal projects for business improvement, proposed changes to the organisation and prepare plans for succession and audit. Guide: Approximately 25% of time.
    • You will be set annual objectives in terms of chargeable time and make a contribution to new gross business value for RSK Group and undertake agreed specific tasks (to be confirmed at annual appraisal) to place RSK as a market leader in the provision of professional project management services.
    • You will initially have overall accountability to the Regional Director in the Geosciences RSK Business unit but will also be expected to have a reporting responsibility to the business unit Managing Director and other RSK Group Directors with regard to the wider application of project management across the RSK Group. Also, to liaise with Regional/Office Directors and the other Heads of discipline

     

    Person Specification:

    • Association of Project Management APMP or Prince 2 Qualified Practitioner.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in the project management sector, and accustomed to directing a team of staff on large, complex, multidisciplinary projects.
    • Chartered Project Manager with the Association of Project Management or in process of obtaining this status.
    • Proficient using Microsoft Project.
    • A detailed understanding of project and programme management process, including developing project definition, preparing the business case, implementing the project plan, leading and motivating the delivery team, identifying risks and managing change, monitoring progress against the plan and budget, and communicating all of these issues with stakeholders and the project team.
    • The ability to advise on the most appropriate project management methodology for the delivery of frameworks and major projects.
    • Be a good mentor and coach to others in RSK with regard to the project management process and techniques.
    • The ability to convince colleagues, clients, regulators and other stakeholders as appropriate.
    • The post holder will need to liaise with other RSK divisions and regions as appropriate, primarily anticipated as the Geosciences, Engineering and Contracting
    • Division and specialist colleagues in the International and European Regions, pertaining to project planning and monitoring.
    • Have a respected area of expertise, be a confident leader and reliable contributor to any team.
      Be decisive, be a good negotiator and always act with integrity.
