    Envirolab, a member of RSK Group plc, is an analytical laboratory with an outstanding track record for delivering analysis competitively and on time. The company provides environmental analytical services predominately of soil and groundwater samples. Because of recent expansion, the Cheshire lab is now looking to recruit a Laboratory Assistant to work in a UKAS and ISO 9001 standard accredited lab. 


    Sample Reception Technician - Hyde, Cheshire


    This post provides an opportunity for a wide range of individuals, from those returning to work after a career break to those looking for a career in an environmental laboratory. The successful applicant will work in a sample reception/goods inwards department to ensure client needs are met. The principal responsibilities for this role are:


    • Unpacking samples received on a daily basis
    • Assisting with the scheduling of samples
    • Weighing of soil to dry for testing
    • Daily checks of equipment to ensure they are working properly (e.g. balance/ovens)
    • Sample disposal
    • Maintaining a neat and orderly lab environment
    • In addition to your normal duties, you may occasionally be required to undertake additional work necessary to meet the needs of the business, without additional remuneration.

    This is a physical job role, you will be on your feet most of the day and can be quite dirty handling soil/water samples, working inside a warehouse or outside in the yard area in all weathers.


    Desired experience


    No previous chemistry or laboratory experience is required for this role. We are interested in hearing from candidates that are familiar with working in a process driven environment, are comfortable working off order lists and don’t mind getting their hands dirty.  There will be some manual handling involved in the role and will require moving heavy items on a frequent basis.

    • This is a full time post working 8am – 4.30pm
    • Salary – Minimum wage
