Overview

RSK is a multidisciplinary environmental consultancy, employing over 1,600 staff throughout the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.  RSK has been placed within the top 8 UK environmental consultancies (Environmental Analyst, December 2015), a rank that may rise following our recent takeover of the ADAS business.

 

Our Environment, Planning and Design team has an exciting opportunity for a work placement student to join either our Manchester or Helsby teams for 12 months, with an expected start date in summer or autumn 2018 (start dates to be agreed with the successful candidate).  Working alongside an experienced team you will get involved with a vast array of projects predominately within the energy, property and rail sectors.

 

RSK Environment Ltd are registrants under the IEMA Quality Mark Standard and are currently engaged on some of the most high profile projects across the UK. Our EIA teams are currently supporting clients on a range of NSIP and other major planning applications, public inquiries and the environmental management of projects before, during and after construction.

 

Environmental Placement Student – Manchester

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the EIA and Environmental Management team with project work and tender preparation.
  • Accompanying ecologists, transport planners, archaeologists, landscape architects or acousticians and air quality specialists on site surveys.
  • Undertaking GIS work using ARC and MapInfo as required.
  • Recording survey data and produce summary reports.
  • Assisting with other office duties e.g. office audits, business development and business systems.

Person Specification:

 

The suitable candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)
  • Good written skills and ability to produce professional reports
  • Enthusiastic team worker
  • Pro-active, positive attitude
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • GIS experience (preferable, but not essential as training will be provided)
  • Full driving licence

Salary

  • £16,500 annual salary
