Overview

RSK Environment Ltd, a member of RSK Group plc, is a Landscape Institute registered practice and the largest independently owned multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy in the UK. RSK’s landscape team provides a comprehensive range of landscape architecture and landscape management services throughout the UK. We have a consultancy role on the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) Green Estates management project. This is primarily concerned with government-owned land awaiting development, and encompasses a wide variety of site types and land uses. We also provide multidisciplinary environmental services for a number of major infrastructure transport and energy projects.

 

We now have an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate looking for a 12 month placement as part of their degree course to join the team in Hemel Hempstead. Working alongside an experienced team you will get involved with providing support to our team of Landscape Managers, Landscape Surveyors, Arboriculturalists and Ecologists undertaking landscape stewardship on regeneration areas, agricultural land, development sites and a range of public open spaces in the HCA South Region.

 

 

This position requires both field and office work, and the successful applicant will be expected to travel to various sites throughout the south of England.

 

Landscape Manager Placement Opportunity– Hemel Hempstead

 

Key Tasks:

 

  • Undertake the role of Contracts Manager following the relevant administrative procedures
  • Oversee contractors to deliver projects and work activities
  • Liaison with clients on scope of works, work programmes and budgets
  • Undertake landscape management in parks and open spaces, business parks, residential areas, urban regeneration and environmental improvement schemes including:
    • Production and implementation of landscape management contracts
    • Preparation of management plans for parks and open spaces
    • Completion of site surveys, inventories and production of lifecycle costings
    • Preparation of advisory reports and feasibility studies
  • Liaise with the community and neighbouring landowners regarding the clients existing and proposed landscape management activity

 Skills and experience

 

  • Studying towards a relevant landscape or environmental design and management qualifications,
  • Understanding/experience of:
    • Environmental legislation
    • Landscape Management principles and techniques across a range of landscape types
    • Landscape Surveying, appraisals and preparation of Landscape Management Plans
  • Competency in Microsoft office applications, GIS and AutoCAD,
  • A high level of verbal and written communication skills in a commercial environment, including presentations and report writing
  • The ability to work well within a team, assisting seniors as required
  • Well organised to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Full clean driving license
