RSK Environment Ltd, a part of RSK Group plc, is looking for a high-calibre environmental consultant to join RSK’s growing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) & Environmental Management (EM) team in Glasgow.

Environmental Consultant - Glasgow

 

The successful candidate will have at least 1 – 2 years of experience working on EIA projects. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate very good communication with team members, clients and stakeholders. The candidate will be self motivated, exhibit a proactive approach and work well within a team environment.

 

The successful candidate will be working on high profile projects in the energy, rail, and residential sectors helping some of the UK’s leading organisations to safeguard the environment for the future. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Managing and overseeing smaller environmental projects from commencement to completion and close out, with a view to being trained up to manage larger and more complex projects
  • Supporting more senior members of staff in the coordination of larger projects, such as EIAs or more complex environmental studies;
  • Coordination of simple tenders, and supporting senior staff in preparing larger, more complex tender documents;
  • Engaging with regulators and liaising with clients;
  • Supporting other teams undertaking of specialist environmental surveys such as noise and air quality monitoring or ecology surveys; and
  • Developing individual capability to provide advice on a wide range of environmental issues.

Desired experience

  • At least one to two years of previous consultancy experience supporting the delivery of EIA projects or delivering environmental reports such as environmental management plans (EMPs).
  • BSc degree level qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Preferably MSc qualified in environmental impact assessment, environmental management or related subject.
  • Professional membership would be desirable, e.g. AIEMA, working towards PIEMA or equivalent.
  • Good team player, with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Enthusiastic and well organised.
  • A general appreciation of environmental issues e.g. ecology, noise, air quality, landscape.
  • Familiarity with UK environmental legislation.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Some familiarity with Microsoft Project and/or GIS software would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Specialist skills in a related subject (e.g. town planning, ecology, hydrology, landscape) would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Full UK driving licence.
