RSK Environment Ltd, a part of RSK Group plc, is looking for a high-calibre environmental senior or principal consultant to join RSK’s growing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) & Environmental Management (EM) team in Glasgow.

Senior or Principal Environmental Consultant - Glasgow

 

The successful candidate is likely to have between 5 to 10 years experience working on EIA projects and/or the environmental management of construction sites in the public or private sector preferably within consultancy.

 

The candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication with team members, peers and the company senior management. They will be expected to be able to support the growth of the team through business development activities. They will be self motivated, exhibit a proactive approach and work well within a team environment.

 

The candidate will be expected to be flexible, adaptable and prepared to take on new challenges and work on projects around the UK. The successful candidate will be working on high profile projects in the energy, rail, and residential sectors helping some of the UK’s leading organisations to safeguard the environment for the future. 

  

Responsibilities: 

  • Managing and overseeing EIAs and small to large-sized environmental projects from commencement to completion and close out
  • Coordinating and delivering simple and complex tenders, supporting business development and building relationships with clients. 
  • Taking a leading role in engaging with regulators and clients;
  • Providing line management, mentoring and/or support to junior staff;
  • Developing individual capability to provide advice on a wide range of environmental issues;
  • Delegating and distributing work to colleagues and more junior members of staff, and reviewing incoming contributions.
  • Providing advice on a wide range of environmental issues;
  • Leading EIA projects and other environmental studies; and
  • Developing their own technical skills and industry knowledge.

Desired experience

  • BSc degree level qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Preferably MSc qualified in environmental impact assessment, environmental management or related subject.
  • Professional membership would be desirable, e.g. PIEMA, CEnv or equivalent.
  • At least five (senior) or eight (principal) years of previous consultancy experience assisting/managing EIA projects or delivering environmental reports such as environmental management plans (EMPs).
  • Good working knowledge of UK environmental legislation.
  • Experience in rail, onshore wind and/or electricity transmission would be preferred. Experience in one or more of the following sectors would be desirable: renewable energy, conventional power, EfW, biomass, road schemes, and property.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good team player, with the ability to work independently as well as to supervise others.
  • Enthusiastic and well organised.
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Specialist skills in a related subject (e.g. town planning, ecology, hydrology, landscape) would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Full driving licence.
