Overview

Structural Soils Limited, a member of RSK Group plc, is a 235-strong site investigation contractor.  It is further supported by a fully accredited UKAS laboratory and together with the Geosciences business unit of RSK, the company makes RSK Group one of the UK’s largest site investigation service providers.  We are now looking to recruit one Assistant Data Processers to join the team in Bedminster, Bristol.

 

Assistant Data Processor - Bristol

 

An Assistant Data Processor is required to join our established Data Management Team, to support the operations of Structural Soils Limited and the wider RSK Group.

 

Geotechnical and geo-environmental data is obtained by the Company in the course of its works by various methods, ranging from handwritten field notes such as soil and rock descriptions, tabulated numerical results, and computer generated data files.

 

This information is entered into specialist Windows based software (gINT) and is used in the Company’s technical work. The Data Processing Technician would be responsible for entering and checking this data, and generating reports from the processed results.

 

The role holder’s duties would include: 

  • Typing of handwritten field data
  • Importing electronic data files into software
  • Exporting/outputting the results using the software into report quality deliverables
  • Carrying out quality checks on the information, both at input and output stage
  • Communicating with other staff verbally, either directly or by phone, and by email where necessary 

Training would be given to provide the specialist knowledge of our systems as required.

 

Desired experience and attributes: 

  • Outstanding accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft packages including Word and Excel
  • Good keyboard skills are essential
  • An ability to learn and work with other computer software
  • Organised, thorough, versatile with a can-do attitude
  • Excellent communication skills and a team player
  • Proactive and willingness to learn
  • Pleasant telephone manner
  • Minimum qualification requirements: GCSE (or equivalent) Grade C or above in Maths, English and a Science subject 

Salary and benefits:  

  • Up to £18,000 depending on experience
