Overview

RSK Response is a business unit within the RSK Group, that specialises in the provision of environmental incident response services to a variety of clients and sectors across the UK. RSK Response is looking for environmental incident  responders to join  our growing teams in Scotland and North West England.

 

Successful candidates will preferably have experience in responding to and managing the clean up of environmental incidents including spilt hydrocarbons from environmental or industrial sectors. Broader experience or knowledge of environmental monitoring techniques is also welcomed. There will be opportunity for long term career progression within RSK Response and the wider RSK Group.

 

These are full time roles that require frequent travel, occasional stays away from home and working on an ‘On-Call’ rota basis.

 

Environmental Incident Response Operative – Glasgow, Helsby or Manchester

 

Responsibilities:

 

The types of activities that the successful candidate could expect to be involved with include:

 

  • Development and adherence to specific and point of work health & safety risk assessments
  • Rapid response to environmental incidents in a variety of urban and rural settings
  • Pro-active assessment of environmental incidents to ground & water
  • Application of a variety of in-situ techniques for recovering spilt oils or other contaminants of concern
  • Intrusive techniques for recovery of contaminated materials
  • Self confident liaison with client and co-contractors in determining a most appropriate technical response to environmental incidents
  • Liaison with technical and managerial support regarding all incidents
  • On-going monitoring activities including gas, vapours, soils and water sampling/monitoring
  • Development of conceptual site models for environmental incidents
  • Application of risk assessment methodologies in incident management

Person specification:

 

These posts would ideally suit practically minded individuals with a mature approach to work and a background in environmental or similar sectors or education. Ultimately, the individual must want to pursue a career within the Environmental Sector. Desirable qualities and skills include:

 

  • Excellent communication skills with co-workers, co-contractors and clients
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to take on new concepts
  • Ability to complete factual reports in a consistent and timely manner
  • Willingness to undertake additional training as business requirements dictate
  • A strong focus on safety management
  • Full clean driving licence as travel will be required
  • Confident to work on your own and on site
  • Happy to work across the UK from time to time to suit business needs
  • Flexible as regards to out of hours and weekend work.
